Warwick - Two M.I.P.A. Awards |
|
April 2010 On March 26th, the M.I.P.A. (Musikmesse International Press Award) was presented at the Musikmesse in Frankfurt for the 11th time and awards were given out in more than 40 categories. Once again, it has been officially confirmed that Warwick bass guitars are world class. 111 music magazines from all over the world voted the Alien as Acoustic Bass of the Year for the second year in a row. The Star Bass II prevailed over international competitors in the category Electric Bass Guitar of the Year, which showed that with the right concept, semi-hollow bass guitars are anything but outdated.
WARWICK ALIEN ACOUSTIC BASS
The Alien fills the gap between the double bass and the electric bass. It provides a wealth of new opportunities for expression and adds an extra dimension to the musician's domain. Unusual styling in the convenient cutaway, the off-center asymmetric soundhole, add to the uniqueness of the overall shape and warm tones of this acoustic model. The top and body are both laminated for increased durability in stage use.
Equipped with the Fishman Prefix™ Plus acoustic guitar system, it provides a variable notch filter, shelving bass & treble, semi-parametric contour and brilliance controls for precise tone shaping. There is also a phase reversal switch and low battery indicator. Even without amplification, the basic character is evident; a growling tone across the instrument's full range with a big bottom. Unlike all other Warwick basses, the Alien is not manufactured in Germany. Built in Vietnam by a well-known acoustic builder to Warwick's exacting specifications, using technology and components supplied by Warwick. They were chosen for their proven acoustic expertise as well as meeting the demanding standards of Warwick.
The Alien Acoustic Bass is available as righthanded version (fretted & fretless) as well as lefthanded version (fretted & fretless).

STAR BASS II BUBINGA
Expansion of warwick's already extensive product line with the "ultra-retro-cool" hollow-body bass aptly named The Starbass II. The Star Bass II is a reissue of the venerable classic Framus Star Bass, linking past and future and Framus and Warwick companies in this one very unique model. The Warwick Starbass II cleverly merges the traditional hollow-body design of the Framus Star Bass with high-quality craftsmanship and modern technology.
Top and back of this future classic hollow body model are made of precious and elegantly grained and sealed bubinga wood. The sides are solid bubinga. The glued neck (like the original Framus Star Bass) of the Warwick Star Bass II is made of Ovangkol and it has a Wenge fingerboard. In order to get the Starbass II's killer tone to the amplifier, Warwick outfitted the instrument with 2 passive MEC CRB single coil pickups. They deliver a full and warm sound without the characteristic single coil hum. Your ears will be amazed when they hear how defined and clean the bass lines play on this dream instrument!
